Chain of Change Again with 530 Typeclub

We are FiveThirty, a workshop collective focused on making experimental type design fun and accessible. We would like to invite you to our latest workshop: Chain of Change Again!

This workshop is all about the change of forms and collaborations. Typography has changed and we will change typography. By going around in cycles we change each other’s idea’s and perspectives: change is inevitable, change is now!

With the use of various tools we will slowly work together to make a collective alphabet, switching tools and letters to make the process truly collaborative with a capital C. In the end we will make a small type specimen publication, printed with the RISO machine on site.

RSVP per mail: €5 (incl. VAT) per participant.

Saturday 26th

1 PM - 4 PM

Pantograph Workshop: Distort, Copy, Transform with Ott Metusala

Join us for a hands-on exploration of the pantograph, a tool that reshaped typography long before computers took over. Originally used to copy and scale designs with precision, the pantograph also allows for distortion, elongation, and skewing—turning replication into transformation.

In this workshop, we’ll experiment with typographic forms, using the pantograph to create stretched, warped, and reimagined letters. The resulting works will be reproduced and layered through risograph printing, culminating in a small publication celebrating the tool’s impact on typography.

Come trace, distort, and print your way into the history of mechanical lettering!

RSVP per mail: €15 (incl. VAT) per participant.

Black Out Poetry with Helena Grande

Join us for a blackout poetry session where we'll remove words from printed materials until we find new meanings, poems or stories.

There’s no one way to create a blackout poem so we’ll crossout, paint, draw or cut, and most importantly, play around with words!

Honoring the day of the workshop, International Women's Day, we encourage you to bring texts by women authors, works related to gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women, or any piece that celebrates or exposes the gaps in women’s rights.

Bring printed materials you can destroy or want to get rid of like old books, newspapers, magazines, documents, or a copy of a text. Your printed materials can be in your own language or any language you feel comfortable using!

RSVP per mail: €15 (incl. VAT) per participant.

Japanese Binding Workshop

In this workshop, with a needle in one hand and thread in the other, you will embark on a connect-the-dots game. You will discover that the arrangement of the punctures can be choreographed in various ways, giving you the freedom to explore many configurations of diverse and occasionally intriguing patterns. Materials and tools are provided. Various papers and threads will be available for use, but feel free to bring your own.

Japanese binding is an enduringly elegant style, also known as 'four-hole binding' (‘Yotsume Toji’). While referred to as 'Japanese,' it has long been practiced across East Asia, including China, Korea, and Vietnam. It has since transcended both time and borders, embracing new shapes along the way. Today, the technique is applied to increasingly innovative materials and designs, garnering admiration and becoming integrated into Western bookbinding practices.

RSVP per mail: 30€ (incl. VAT) per participant. 20€ for students.

After a serie of simple drawing exercises we will end the session with a special illustrated item printed with RISO.

Intuitive calendar workshop

On the day when the clocks are set one hour ahead, we take the time to reflect on how calendars, planners, and schedules help us navigate through the year.

After contemplating how we perceive time around us, we will create a personal poster calendar using stamps, numbers, and our Riso machine. You will have the freedom to choose the period of time you’d like to represent, how much space to allocate for hours, days, months, or years, and what significance they hold for you.

In the end, the designed poster will be printed and hung, guiding you through your time in a new kind of flow.

RSVP per mail: €8 (incl. VAT) per participant for the design & print of one poster. 8€ for every extra poster design & print.
